UNITED WORKER CENTER TO HOLD FORUM ON NEW DRIVER'S LICENSE LAW & SANTA FE LIVING WAGE INCREASE
March 10, 2016
SANTA FE, NM--Today, March 10th the United Workers' Center of New Mexico, a project of Somos Un Pueblo Unido, will hold a forum to inform residents of Santa Fe on the new driver's license law that was signed by the Governor. The new law keeps undocumented immigrant drivers licensed, safeguards current immigrant license holders from ever being fingerprinted, and gives New Mexicans a choice to opt out of getting a federal ID card.
The forum will also inform workers across the City and County of Santa Fe about the new Living Wage and tipped wage increase that took effect on March 1st. The Living Wage in the City and County of Santa Fe increased from $10.84 to $10.94 and the new tipped wage for workers in the Santa Fe County is now $3.27.
When: Today, Thursday, March 10th
Time: 6:00 p.m. (MST)
Where: 1804 Espinacitas St. Santa Fe, NM 87505
What: Worker Rights & Driver's License Forum
Somos Un Pueblo Unido is New Mexico's statewide civil and worker's rights organization. In 2012, Somos founded New Mexico's first and only worker center, the United Worker Center of New Mexico, to organize and provide support to non-union, low-wage workers.
